Wells Fargo Raises Outlook on Cardinal Health (CAH)

On February 10, Wells Fargo raised its price target on Cardinal Health, Inc. (NYSE:CAH) to $256 from $237, maintaining its Overweight rating. This decision came after a strong Q2 performance, prompting the firm to revise its earnings estimates upward. Wells Fargo highlighted broad strength across Cardinal Health's business, particularly in the Pharmaceutical and Specialty segments. The momentum observed in the first half of fiscal 2026 is expected to continue into the latter half.
On February 5, Cardinal Health had already provided positive updates by raising its profit outlook for fiscal 2026 after reporting results that surpassed expectations. The impressive demand for specialty medicines significantly contributed to this outperformance, resulting in a share price increase of more than 9% during early trading.
During the earnings call, CEO Jason Hollar discussed the impact of GLP-1 drugs, stating that while they are contributing to revenue growth, their influence on profits is not anticipated to be substantial in the short term. Hollar noted that the adoption of oral GLP-1 treatments is still gradual and unlikely to make a significant impact this fiscal year, although they do represent a promising long-term opportunity.
Cardinal Health now projects adjusted earnings between $10.15 and $10.35 per share, an increase from the previous forecast of at least $10. The company reported quarterly revenue of $65.63 billion, exceeding expectations, with adjusted earnings of $2.63 per share also beating estimates.
