Baidu (BIDU) Expands Apollo Go Testing Fleet in Dubai
Baidu, Inc. (NASDAQ:BIDU) continues to strengthen its position in the autonomous driving sector. On September 24, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai issued 50 test licenses along with the city's first autonomous driving testing permit to Baidu.
Since receiving these permits in July, Baidu’s Apollo Go fleet, which consists of fifty autonomous vehicles, has been actively conducting tests on public roads in designated areas across Dubai. The company showcased its sixth-generation autonomous cars (RT6) during the 4th Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport, marking a significant milestone as it operates the only platform authorized for self-driving trials on the emirate's public roads.
Looking ahead, Baidu aims to scale its fleet to over 1,000 fully autonomous cars by 2028, contributing to Dubai's strategic push towards promoting autonomous mobility.
