Northisle Copper and Gold Inc. ($ncx) is excited to announce that the Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals in British Columbia has chosen the Company to collaborate with the Critical Minerals Office as it prepares the North Island Project for environmental assessment and permitting processes. This office facilitates advanced project proponents in expediting their permitting by coordinating engagement with First Nations and communities, identifying regulatory requirements early, and aligning permitting pathways.
During a recent announcement, Sam Lee, President & CEO of Northisle, expressed, “We welcome inclusion in the Critical Minerals Office and recognize this as an important catalyst for accelerating our North Island Project. Coordination with this office, combined with our efforts to build consensus through engagement with First Nations and stakeholders, provides a clear pathway to efficient project development.”
The Honourable Jagrup Brar, Minister of Mining and Critical Minerals, remarked, “Northisle has a fantastic team and strong leadership, along with financial strength and local community support. The government is committed to advancing this project and sending a positive message to the investment community.”
A joint press conference was held at the North Island Project site office on February 20, 2026, situated in the territories of the Kwakiutl First Nation and Port Hardy. The event was attended by about 70 individuals, highlighting the community's strong interest in the North Island Project.
Northisle is also pleased to report that it has finalized agreements with the three First Nations whose territories encompass the North Island Project. These agreements, established by Northisle’s subsidiary, North Island Mining Corp., aim to facilitate ongoing engagement and information sharing related to exploration activities within their respective territories.
